From March the 26th to July the 19th 2020, Palazzo Ducale of Genoa hosts “Michelangelo: divino artista” (Michelangelo, divine artist), the first exhibition ever dedicated to Michelangelo Buonarroti in Genoa.
It presents a path which pay attention in particular to the extraordinary meetings Michelangelo had during his life: high ranking personalities of the Renaissance, that were in key position in politics, religion and culture, such as Lorenzo il Magnifico, Francesco I of Valois and Caterina de’ Medici.
The path is divided in different sections dedicated to different periods of Buonarroti’s long life, with original artworks, sculptures and some artist’s paintings, in addition to documentary evidence by different authors. The masterpieces and documents help the visitors to reconstruct his life and his way of making art.
The exhibition also presents specific insights to enhance the territory and the relationship between Michelangelo’s art and Liguria.
